Paper Graphica: Works from Paper Graphica
23 June – 29 July 2001
Bill Culbert
Ralph Hotere
John Reynolds
A selection of works from fine print studio PaperGraphica, based in Christchurch and operating since 1987. Selected by PaperGraphica Director and master printer, Marian Maguire, these prints were new works produced by the artists while working at the print studio.
Bill Culbert’s Half Lights referenced the artist’s light installations while Ralph Hotere’s twelve lithographs Round Midnight were a series based on both the calendar and Hotere’s black lacquer paintings. A body of work by John Reynolds, This is not History, used saturated colour to suggest the ambiguity of texts, narratives and meanings.
