About

The Adam Art Gallery was established through the generous donations of a group of Founding Patrons, led by the Adam Foundation, who saw the potential for a gallery at Victoria University of Wellington.

Since opening in September 1999 the Gallery’s operations have been proudly funded by Victoria University of Wellington.

Funds are also raised from grants, sponsorships, donations and supporters’ fees. These additional resources are crucial to the fulfilment of the Gallery’s vision, as are the relationships we foster with funding agencies, public bodies, institutional partners, and individual and corporate supporters.

There are various ways in which you can support the work of the Gallery, whether it is as a Supporter, Sponsor, Friend, or Volunteer.

Your contribution will have a direct impact on our work and will enable us to build on the Gallery’s core activities to enhance our programme and make us leaders in our field.

In May 2010 we launched the Adam Art Gallery Programme Development Fund. This will be used to:

  • Produce high quality, well-researched publications and stage lectures, seminars, workshops and conferences that generate critical thinking and new knowledge
  • Include international artists, curators and writers in our activities to stimulate local discourses and to extend our reach as a world-class university art gallery
  • Enable us to keep up to date with what is going on nationally and internationally

As all donations are made through the Victoria University of Wellington Foundation which is a charitable trust, your contribution is eligible for a one third charitable gift taxation rebate.
